Frederik Arens Grandin grew up in Wuppertal, Germany. In Montpellier he studied film, theater and art studies.

In 2010 he completed his master's degree in film directing at the University of Paris 8 and presented his first documentary DAS OPA-PROJEKT. The following year Frederik gave film courses at the IESA art institute in Paris and in 2012 was artist in residence as part of the documentary film festival "5 sur 5" in La Louvière, Belgium.

Frederik took part in the DocStation of the Berlinale Talents in 2014. In 2016 he realized several film workshops with orphans in Brasília as part of research on a feature film project.

He presented his first full-feature documentary KIW at the Festival Max Ophüls Preis 2020 in Sarrebrücken. In the same year he finished the documentary workshop “l’atelier documentaire” at La Fémis in Paris, where he began the development of his second feature film.

Numerous short films and collaborations have been shown at over 50 festivals worldwide. He lives and works in Paris.
